After hacking my iPhone a couple of months ago, it's only seen use as a backup cell phone. I love my Blackberry Pearl. I see the Pearl as a tool, and the iPhone as a toy. Given that I love playing with my toys, whenever I'd practice using my iPhone full time, I'd end up playing with it more then I'd work.

I'd thought about purchasing another line through T-Mobile for the iPhone, so I wouldn't need to swap SIM cards, but I could never find a reason to justify the additional expense. Last week, I stumbled across that justification. Smiling

So, I headed down to the local T-Mobile store and they hooked me up. How did I justify adding $30/month to my cell bill? That's the best part.

During the mandatory personal reflection time that January 1st brings, the value of my attention and time was brought into clear focus. This is compounded by being a new father. The best advice I've ever heard regarding kids is, "You can't achieve quality time without quantity time". The same is true in my business, where I sell my attention and time.

This is where the iPhone comes in. It's now my "Nights and Weekends" phone. When I leave work, I leave my blackberry charging next to my laptop. It's that simple. Because nobody knows my iPhone's new number, and I don't plan on telling many people, I've successfully achieved almost 100% Pull Connectivity with 0% Push Connectivity. I've already connected a Grand Central account to the iPhone, so if I do give you my private phone number, I've got the power of Grand Central to screen you.

If you're reading this, that might seem a little harsh. Frame it with this perspective. When I spend time with someone, the best form of respect I can show them is 100% of my attention, regardless of who that person is. If you've ever spent time with someone who does this, you know what I mean.
